World Debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2011: BRABUS ultimate style - Exclusive City Sports Car Based on the New smart fortwo Cabrio

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

Geneva, Switzerland, Mar 01, 2011

Exclusive city sports cars have a tradition at BRABUS. After the sold-out limited-edition special models STAR-ONE, star-two, ULTIMATE 101 and ULTIMATE 112 BRABUS now presents the BRABUS ultimate style. At the Geneva Motor Show 2011 the new edition based on the new smart fortwo Cabrio and limited to 100 cars celebrates its world debut. For this show the open-top speedster was built specifically as a “tender to” the BRABUS 700 Biturbo based on the Mercedes SLS AMG. Both vehicles have the same special “Imola Grey Metallic” paint and an exclusive black/light grey all-leather interior.

The heart of the small speedster beats powerfully: The 999-cm³ three-cylinder turbocharged engine of the BRABUS ultimate style produces 102 hp (100bhp) / 75 kW and a peak torque of 147 Nm (108 lb-ft). With this engine the open two-seater turns into the ultimate city sports car. Combined with the automatic transmission, whose five speeds can also be shifted manually with shift paddles like in Formula 1 racing, the special model sprints from 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.9 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 170 km/h (103 mph). The sporty accompanying sound is produced by the BRABUS stainless-steel sport exhaust system with two chrome-plated tailpipes.

The extremely agile handling is complemented by striking looks: These include the BRABUS option of painting the entire limited-edition car including the tridion safety cell in any special color from matte black to bright yellow. The BRABUS WIDESTAR wide-body version sets the ultimate style miles apart from a normal smart fortwo of the latest generation.

Immediately noticeable are the BRABUS WIDESTAR fender flares front and back. The large wheel wells offers space for a tire/wheel combination that is highly unusual in this vehicle class: Like the exterior the BRABUS Monoblock VI wheels are also painted “Imola Grey Metallic” and mounted in size 7Jx18 with size 205/35 R 18 high-performance tires on the front axle. Size 8.5Jx18 wheels with size 235/30 R 18 tires in the rear provide optimal grip. In combination with the height-adjustable BRABUS sport suspension the agile handling of the ultimate style is hard to surpass.

The remaining outfit of the two-seater is just as sporty: The BRABUS front spoiler with additional front flaps, black main headlights and LED daytime running lights in the front apron lend the luxurious ultra-compact car a sporty-dynamic face.

The BRABUS sill skirts create a homogenous transition between front and rear fender flares. The rear molding provides a striking backdrop for the BRABUS sport exhaust.

The exclusive cabriolet also features an exclusive interior. Seats, door trim, dashboard, instrument cluster and numerous other details are wrapped in a combination of especially soft and breathable black and light grey BRABUS Mastik leather. The masterful work by the company upholstery shop is especially evident in the precision seams throughout the interior.

The ergonomically shaped BRABUS ‘Topline’ multifunction steering wheel is also part of the standard equipment of the ultimate style as are illuminated scuff plates, subtle ambiance lighting and high-quality black floor mats made from stitched leather with leather trim.

The BRABUS ultimate style placard with consecutive numbering attests to the exclusivity of this special model. Prices start at EUR 42,900 MSRP.
