New spy photos of the SLS AMG Cabriolet emerged today on the internet. The test prototype featured only minor camouflage on the headlights, tail lamps and external logos. The open-top hypercar is tipped for unveiling at next month's NYIAS, as an earlier report showed, although Olla Kaellenius, the boss of Mercedes-AMG, stated back in January that the premiere would take place at the IAA Frankfurt. The pictured red-coloured, fabric retractable roof helps maintain overall weight as low as possible in addition to delivering a classy atmosphere and keeping most of the dynamic characteristics of the Gullwing model unaffected despite further body reinforcement applied that are compulsory on every convertible. The same 6.2 liters naturally-aspirated V8 unit, pumping out a massive 571 hp maximum output and 650 Nm peak torque, will make its way under the bonnet of the SLS AMG Cabriolet. With the help of it, the performance figures of the car will certainly look juicy: around 310 km/h top speed and around 4 seconds to reach 100 km/h. Check out more spy shots after the jump!
