PREVIEW - The New Mercedes-Benz A-Klasse: Further design sketches surface
Mercedes-Benz is working hard at developing a strong portfolio of compact models to be premiered beginning with late 2011. Whereas the new B-Klasse will come at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, little is known about the future A-Klasse, prone to receive a major switch in philosophy. No road test prototypes for this specific model have been spotted whatsoever, but a large series of computer renderings or drawings has been released in the last year. Slowly, but surely, some important hints started to pop out of the secret Merc laboratories and we found out the new A-Klasse will feature a radical hatchback architecture, in both 3-door and 5-door variants. Also, designers are said to be planning a youthful and fresh interior for this model. New assistance technologies will be available, as well as an extensive engine lineup, with peak outputs ranging from 122 to 300 hp. A preview of the A-Klasse in the form of a concept car is expected to be revealed in April, at New York or Shanghai Auto Salons, almost one year ahead of the official debut as a series production model. Check out more after the jump!
