Blue Efficiency Power: New long-distance Actros to be launched soon
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE
- More profitability, dynamism and comfort
- First Euro VI truck in the market
Stuttgart, Germany, Apr 16, 2011 – Disguised test versions are still absolving their final practical trials, but they will already be going on sale in the second half of 2011: the new long-distance trucks are set to continue and build on the success of the bestselling Mercedes-Benz Actros. Transport operators and drivers can look forward to more profitability, more dynamism and more comfort from these new trucks. This is due in part to completely new cabs in seven basic versions. Even beneath their disguise, the contours indicate a striking but typical Mercedes-Benz design with aerodynamic refinements and an innovative lighting concept. The external dimensions confirm plenty of working, living and resting space for the driver.
Under the cab, power comes from the recently presented Mercedes-Benz engines of the New Engine Generation built in Mannheim. These will initially be available in four output classes from 310 kW to 375 kW, with maximum torque from 2100 Nm to 2500 Nm. Thanks to ultra-modern technology including the unique X-Pulse injection system, exhaust gas recirculation, exhaust aftertreatment using BlueTec diesel technology and a particulate filter, these engines are the first in Europe to already comply with the Euro VI emission limits that will only come into force from 2014. Euro VI will reduce the current limiting values of the Euro V standard by a further 80% for NOx and 67% for particulates.
Over the last seven years, the new Mercedes-Benz Actros long-distance trucks have been subjected to rigorous testing, in the heat of the Sierra Nevada, in winter tests on the Arctic circle and in practical trials on the roads. As in the case of the Mercedes-Benz trucks that have proven their worth in all aspects of goods traffic, the reliability of the new long-distance trucks will continue to uphold the Mercedes-Benz claim "Trucks you can trust".
